It seems that Roy Jones, Jr. has definitely earned his life’s “brass ring.” Giving back that “brass ring” quality is another goal Roy has made a part of his life. Every year in May, Roy hosts a golf tournament for kids. He also makes a point of speaking to America’s youth as often as possible to promote the value of education and a drug free life.
Born January 16, 1969 in Pensacola, FL, Roy Jones, Jr. enjoys the simple things in life: he raise animals on his farm, and he loves to go in the gulf to go fishing on his boat. He demolishes anyone who threatens his skills in basketball and on the pool table, and he also enjoys fishing at home in his man-made pond.
Music is the outlet for Roy to express himself. Through his positive lyrics about life, he explains the person he is both in and out of the boxing ring. “Life is what we make it and we have to live our life to the fullest and do what makes us happy” states Roy. True to his words, Roy is doing just that.
Additionally, Roy has toured with his boxing icon and childhood hero Muhammad Ali on his cross-country goodwill campaign to deliver positive life messages to schoolchildren. Being a father himself, Roy consistently demonstrates how a positive lifestyle affects the youth. Roy also gives back to the community by teaching kids the art of boxing as well as numerous lessons in everyday life. It’s no wonder he was honored in Pensacola for his humanitarian efforts.
